Let’s revisit childhood for a minute. Mom and dad preached responsibility: do the dishes, clean your room, finish your homework. And of course they touched on topics like money management - AKA allowance! But did you completely understand how to save money and why you should? Fortunately there are outlets like our friends at Junior Achievement Of Georgia (JA) who focus on educating children and young adults about the basic concepts of financial literacy, why it’s important, and how to incorporate those practices into everyday life.
After all, Americans carry almost $2 trillion in consumer debt.
April is Financial Literacy Month. Thanks to organizations like JA, parents can find resources for both their children and themselves covering topics such as how to keep an eye on personal spending. According to Money Management International, too many Americans are “insufficiently educated about their personal finances,” and too many young people are left with the escalating cost.
Payscape is proud to partner with JA of Georgia year round, but our major focus comes during the annual Payscape Glow on the Green (GONG) Golf Tournament. GONG was specifically designed to raise awareness about the importance of starting financial education early and having a plan for a successful financial future. All proceeds from GONG benefit JA of Georgia and brighten the future for the next generation.
Payscape is proud to have contributed over $60,000 to JA of Georgia over the past three years, as well 1000+ volunteer hours at the Junior Achievement Discovery Center, where Payscape is a financial sponsor. As we encroach on the 4th Annual Glow on the Green this July 28th, 2016, we hope you consider getting involved with the cause and choose JA for your financial literacy resources.
